The most important rule is that this is a scientific forum, thus, one has to follow the rules of politeness as usual in traditional scientific discussion.  This is a standard of politeness which is higher than usual in our society in general.  Thus, not only no flame wars will be allowed, even moderate personal attacks will be moderated.

That this is a scientific forum means also that one has to restrict oneself to scientific arguments. In other physics forums, ad hominem arguments are considered as an admission that one has no more arguments about the content. Here they are unwanted too, and may be moderated.  The only exception is a description why one does no longer want to participate in a particular discussion, which should not only be in agreement with the high standards of politeness in scientific discussions, but should be also the last post of this poster in that thread.
