I was banned from PhysicsForums for saying Purcell's length-contract explanation of magnetism is incorrect. I made a comment, and a moderator turned it into a dedicated thread. Here it is:

A few days later I was banned for "spreading misinformation". I was annoyed about that. I'm not a big fan of Minkowski, but can you can find the real reason in Space and Time :

"If the field caused by the electron be described in the above-mentioned way, then it will appear that the division of the field into electric and magnetic forces is a relative one, and depends upon the time-axis assumed; the two forces considered together bears some analogy to the force-screw in mechanics; the analogy is, however, imperfect".
